Momijien Maple Garden

もみじ園

A Japanese Garden with a long history famous for its autumn maple foliage. The garden is also lit-up after dark in a magical display.

The Momijien Maple Garden was created in 1896 as the villa garden of a wealthy landowner. The 4,000 m² site is home to 150 to 200-year-old mountain cherry trees, a plethora of maples, azaleas, and more. During the fall foliage season, the maples paint the garden with bright colors, best seen at the Maple Festival in late October. The garden is also illuminated at night, forming an enchanting world very different from the day. Even outside of autumn, each season has something new to see, with its spring cherry blossoms being especially noteworthy.
