Okome no Gakkou (Rice School) is located in the charming Shiozawa district of Minamiuonuma, an area renowned for its top-quality rice. Here, amid the very fields where premium Niigata rice is grown, visitors will embark on an engaging journey into the world of rice. Interactive panels and machines provide insight into the intricate process, unraveling the journey from field to table. Savor Minamiuonuma “koshihikari” rice, and be amazed at the diversity of flavors found within the same rice variety. You'll also get to enjoy a delightful helping of "kenchin-jiru" (a hearty vegetable soup with soy sauce) and handmade pickles. Once you've found your perfect rice match, you can take it home as a souvenir.
