The Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, one of the world’s biggest international art festivals, started in 2000, and now offers year-round art experiences in the ever-evolving countryside of Niigata. Adjacent to the Matsudai "Nou-butai," one of the main festival hubs, is the Echigo-Matsudai Satoyama Shokudo restaurant. Here, you can embark on a culinary journey that blends time-honored local flavors with creative twists, made with fresh vegetables from farmers rooted in the community and mountain vegetables nurtured by the pristine wilderness.

The restaurant interior is adorned with artworks from world-renowned artists, while the windows look out over terraced rice paddies and sculptures, granting a luxurious dining experience where the harmony of nature and art unfolds before your eyes.
