Katakai Fireworks Festival

片貝まつり浅原神社秋季例大祭

Be amazed by the world's largest firework, listed in the Guinness Book of Records!

The Katakai Matsuri is an annual autumn celebration at Asahara Shrine. Fireworks serve as dedications to the shrine, with individuals and companies expressing sentiments through contributions. The town of Katakai, the festival's location, is the birthplace of the famous “sanshakudama” firework. Its enormous “yonshakudama,” which has an 800-meter diameter, is recognized as the world's largest firework.

From the morning, the entire town of Katakai comes alive with traditional events like the dedication of firework balls to Asahara Shrine, and rituals praying for the success and safety of the upcoming display.

Number of fireworks: Approx. 15,000 over two days
