Gyokusendo
株式会社 玉川堂A well-established producer of hammered copperware, a traditional Niigata craft. Here, visitors have the unique opportunity to witness skilled craftsmen at work in a century-old factory.
For around 200 years, Gyokusendo has been dedicated to crafting hammered copperware, one of Niigata Prefecture’s most famous traditional crafts.
By employing an array of hammers and metalwork techniques, they shape copper plates into three-dimensional masterpieces. The more these pieces are used, the richer their colors and shine become, making each one truly exceptional.
Gyokusendo offers a diverse range of products that seamlessly complement contemporary living, including teaware, sake ware, kettles, coffee ware, and business card cases. Visitors are also welcome to observe the meticulous crafting process within the confines of their 100-year-old factory.
While hammered copperware may not come at a modest price, the more you utilize these items, the greater the bond you'll form with them, creating a unique and cherished possession.
