Gold KAIDO Cycling Route
A cycle-journey along old highways and gold mines filled with nature, history, and culture
Central Four Prefectures of Japan (Niigata, Nagano, Yamanashi and Shizuoka) cover two gold mines, Sado Gold Mine (Niigata) and Toi Gold Mine (Shizuoka) that Tokugawa Ieyasu initiated the development. There are also Yunooku Gold Mine (Yamanashi), and Kinkei Gold Mine located along the cycling route. This is the "Gold KAIDO Cycling Route in Four Central Prefectures of Japan ".
This route spans approximately 550 kilometers, crossing the Japanese archipelago from the Pacific Ocean to the Sea of Japan. Along the way, cyclists can experience the history of old highways that once supported the transport of goods and people in each prefecture, while also enjoying the breathtaking landscapes of the Pacific Ocean, the Japanese Alps, and the Sea of Japan, along with the local cuisine.

How to get...
From Tokyo Station, take the Joetsu Shinkansen to Niigata Station (about 2 hours).From there, take local bus or taxi to Niigata Port (about 15 minutes ) and board Car Ferry (about 2 hour and 30 minutes) or Jetfoil (about 1 hour and 10 minutes) to Ryotsu Port. Sado Gold Mine is about 1 hour by bus or taxi from Ryotsu Port.

From Tokyo Station, take the Tokaido Shinkansen to Mishima Station (about 1 hour and 30minutes).From there, take Izuhakone railway to Shuzenji Station (about 35 minutes) and board bus to Toi Gold Mine (about 50 minutes).
