The ski slopes of Akakura Kanko Resort and Spa were the first slopes in Japan to be designated as an international ski resort. You can enjoy the 4km-long cruising trail from the hotel’s 5th lift. Additionally, there is a special area called the Chibikko Hiroba for children too young to hit the slopes.

The waters of the Nadachi River boast some of the highest numbers of migrating salmon in the whole of Niigata prefecture.
In order to help people from Niigata and all over Japan learn about these delicious salmon, every year we plan an event that the whole family can enjoy, with different salmon goods for sale and a salmon catching competition!

Salmon Catching Competition

Each participant will get 1 salmon, a serving of salmon soup, and a commemorative gift.

Get your fill of locally produced Joetsu alcohol; including sake from 18 breweries, doburoku unrefined sake, wine, and beer. Additionally, there will be refined sake and wine tasting, local food pairings, exclusive selling of matsuri-zake (sake served for the gods in the festival), and a live concert.

The best time to see the Orient’s biggest and most beautiful sacred lotus blossoms in Takada Park. From the 7th -10th you can taste German beer and cuisine at the ‘Jyoetsu Oktoberfest’.
