 Starting with April’s Island Festival, enjoy traditional festivals and events all year round where you can taste the wonders of the Sea of Japan. At the Ogi Port Festival, you can see Tarai boat races and Kojishimai　dances.

 The Niigata Festival lasts three days starting on August 7. See float parades and fireworks displays, as well as the piece de resistance, a folk dance procession of 20,000 people.

 Nagaoka Festival is held from August 1 to August 3. See portable shrine float parades and folk dance processions, plus the main attraction of the large-scale fireworks display that takes place over the Shinano River. 650 meter giant sanshakudama fireworks, waterfall and volcano fireworks, and 20,000 smaller shakudama fireworks light up the night sky.

 A festival that shows off Tokamachi’s image as a kimono town. A wide array of events takes place, washing the town in the colors of kimonos.

 Nighttime cherry blossom viewing at Takada is one of the three best spots in Japan for the activity. Takada Castle is lit up by 3,600 lanterns, so you can see the 4,000 cherry blossom trees. The beauty of night is totally different from the tranquility of the daytime.
