The Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale is a massive and expansive international art festival held once every three years in the woodlands of the Echigo-Tsumari region (Tokamachi and Tsunan) since 2000.

The Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale began with the aim of creating activities that would continuously open up new prospects for the area, and the artists cooperate with the residents to create works of art with local roots. At this time, many permanent works of art and base facilities remain as assets all over the region.

The Echigo-Tsumari area (the municipalities of Tokamachi and Tsunan in Niigata Prefecture), about 760 square kilometers
